Sherbet has a snowy adventure

It is still very cold and snowy here at Clover Cottage.  Mango mouse is  staying with me,  as you know.   He is so little that it is much better for him to cuddle up on my comfy chair in the warm than to stay in his watering can in my garden. Today though we decided to go out for some fresh air. I put on my green rubber boots and my warm gloves, tucked Mango right inside my wool under my arm to keep him cosy and went out of my kitchen door.    Brrrrr,  the cold air hit me in the face as I stepped into my garden  and dear little Mango snuggled in closer to my warm woolly body.  I decided then and there that we would not stay out long.  I loved walking through the crunchy snow and leaving big deep footprints behind me.  Mango was peeping cautiously out from under my arm.  He wanted us to collect some bunches of holly from the  holly tree in Wiggleway Lane so that is exactly what we did.  I picked some holly as quickly as I could and then we went back indoors where I made us both some delicious hot cocoa.
We soon warmed up again in front of my lovely log fire and we both had the most beautiful pink, healthy looking cheeks after our adventure in the snow.  Love from a snowy Sherbet Sheepx

It is so windy today in Sherbet's garden

Oh my goodness, it is so windy!
The windows in Clover Cottage are rattling so hard and the green, yellow, brown, red, orange and yellow leaves are just flying all around my garden.  I know Mango will love it but I do not like to see my poor trees all bare with no leaves on.  I do worry about the birds because I don't know where they go to keep cosy in the cold weather. I will ask Pearl she is very wise and may know the answer.  I do hope the wind stops soon.  I must say that I am still feeling my lovely, loving hug that I had yesterday. I cannot wait until next year when I will get another big hug for HUG A SHEEP DAY !

Mango helps to sweep the leaves

I woke up this morning after a very windy night.  I knew it was windy because I woke up out of my fascinating dream to the sound of my bedroom window rattling.  As my cottage is little bit old it does things like rattle it's windows but I do not mind as it is very cosy living here in Clover Cottage.
Anyway, when I opened my kitchen door after eating my scrumptious breakfast of toast made of some leftover delicious homemade bread that Pearl gave me,  I saw hundreds of leaves on my lawn.  My first thought was Mango!  I am saying this because  I know that Mango just loves jumping around in my piles of leaves.  I put on my boots and went to knock on his watering can house door and asked him if he would like to help me sweep up the leaves.  He of course said yes as he does like helping and he was especially delighted as he knew that his reward at the end of leaf sweeping would be to bury himself in the lovely crunchy rainbow coloured leaves.    Love from Sherbetx

Mango is eating feta cheese in Sherbet's kitchen this evening

I must show you the pretty bottles of olives and cheese that Doodle made for me while I was staying with him.
Here is a picture of one of them, it has cubes of feta cheese mixed in with olives and some herbs. I must admit I do not like the taste of feta cheese very much as it is too strong for my delicate taste buds but I know that Mango will be delighted when I serve him some on his very special tiny plate. I will invite him to dinner tonight and he can sit on his very own corner of my tablecloth and nibble the cheese cubes to his heart's content.  I also still have some scrumptious leftover apple pie so we will eat that with lovely warm, yellow custard and then share a quiet evening together. We will chat about all the things that happened in my garden while I was away, locked out of my cottage, and then we will go into my comfy room where I keep my books and relax with delicious mugs of hot chocolate and I will read some wise words to Mango from my wise words books. It will be a very pleasant evening indeed. Just to remind you all to please keep yourselves very safe as the world outside of my perfect Clover Cottage can sometimes be a very dangerous place. I am sending all of you in the entire world some very special guardian angels to keep you protected. Love from Sherbetx

Mango brings a gift for Sherbet

Oh what a sweet little mouse Mango is.  This morning he knocked on my door very early and gave me a gift of two perfect cherries.  What a lovely surprise for me to start my day with.   Of course I invited him in to my cosy kitchen and we sat and enjoyed a delicious breakfast together. I have a big jar of my special home made muesli on my kitchen shelf and it was a delight for me to share it with my little friend.  I am afraid my chairs are much too big for Mango to feel comfortable on so he sits on top of my table on his own special corner of tablecloth.  I keep a little mouse sized bowl and spoon in my cupboard  just for him. he knows he is always very welcome at Clover Cottage.  I had invited Pearl and Doodle too but they are much too busy this morning.  Doodle is painting in his art studio and Pearl is busy making more of her delicious fruity jam to sell at her roadside stall.

Sherbet is planning his very own Olympics

I am very busy today as I am trying to make my plans for my very own Olympics in my garden at Clover Cottage.  I have decided that I must go on my bicycle to visit the farmer at the other end of Wiggleway Lane.  I have to ask him if I can borrow some of his wonderful goats.  Goats are very good at athletics and gymnastics so they will be a truly great addition to our games.
I saw Mango training a little bit in his watering can this morning.   He is very  tiny, much smaller than the rest of us so I hope he will be big enough to join in our games without getting squashed under all of our feet.  Oh dear what can we do, we will have to be very careful indeed not to lose him in all of the excitement.  I will ask Doodle or Pearl to make Mango a special little vest in a very bright colour, something like orange or vibrant pink so that we can all see him easily in the grass.  Oh good, now that I have had that brilliant idea I can stop worrying.  I am sure he will be quite safe and easy to see in his brightly coloured new vest.

Mango brings Sherbet some delectable cherries

Rainbow coloured blessings to you all this fine morning.
I am sitting here on my kitchen doorstep listening to the delightful twittering and chirping of my birds as they play in the oak tree.   I must tell you that I have seen lots of newly built nests around my garden and I am so excited to think that new baby birds will be born soon.
I know though also that I have to watch very carefully in case any eggs or newly born babies fall out onto the grass.  I do so hope that doesn't happen as that would be very sad for me.  I am also a little afraid that the naughty cat from Greengate farm may come around to look for them.
Earlier this morning,  my dear little mouse friend Mango, who lives in the watering can in my garden, came to visit me.  What a kind loving little mouse he is!   He brought me 2 delicious cherries to have for my breakfast.  What a treat!  I do not have a cherry tree in my garden so I savoured every tiny little bite of those delectable cherries.  I have asked Mango to come to share my dinner with me this evening, he doesn't eat much as he is so tiny and he does not fit very well on my kitchen chairs, but I have a special little corner on my tablecloth where he can sit quite comfortably and enjoy his meal.  I am so blessed to have a sweet little friend like Mango living in my garden.

Sherbet is just sitting here wondering

Hello everyone. Here I am just sitting here.  Just sitting here wondering what I should do today.
I could weed my garden or I could go to the nearby village to buy more seeds or I could visit Doodle in his art studio or I could go to Mango's watering can and ask if he would like to join me for breakfast or I could make a delicious rainbow coloured cake or I could go for a walk along Wiggleway Lane or I could write some letters to my friends that live far far away or I could read my books with wise words in and learn something that would make me be a better Sherbet Sheep or I could do some yoga or I could count the frogs in my pond.  Well, I could do one of those things or some of those things but I think I will just sit here where I am sitting and stay sitting here until I feel like not sitting here anymore . How delightful ! Mango is well again.

Oh what a delight !  I went into my garden bright and early this morning to water my plants, and there peeping out of his watering can was Mango! He was well !   What a wonderful surprise to see  that his little wrist was all mended and that Marise mouse had taken his bandage off. Mango climbed out of his home, jumped up on my shoulder and gave my ears a big hug. He was so happy to be well again. He told me that Marise mouse had looked after his little wrist very well. She had rubbed a special strong smelling ointment into it and it made it feel much better. Marise and Mango had enjoyed a delicious breakfast together of very smelly cheese and bread ( I must say I do not like smelly cheese myself but I know Mango just loves it and I hope Marise does as Mango did not have any other kind ! ) Marise had left early to get back to her own house as she had to water her spinach. Talking about spinach, I am still waiting for my newly planted spinach seeds to grow into little seedlings. Oh what a miracle it will be to see them popping out of the soil. I just cannot wait.  I wish you all a very blessed day full of rainbow coloured adventures. Love from Sherbetx

Marise mouse takes care of Mango

Oh dear, I am a bit late writing my story today as my dear little mouse friend Mango fell into the leaf pile again.  He really is very naughty sometimes. The trouble is that this time he fell so hard that he hurt his little wrist and that is why I am late today. I heard him squeak in a painful, help me, kind of way and I rushed out from my kitchen to find him buried in the leaves that I had piled up yesterday.
Oh dear, poor Mango. I wrapped a bandage around his wrist and told him to rest in his watering can.  Mango asked me to go and fetch Marise mouse, his friend from the house that leads off of Wiggleway Lane, so I ran there and  Marise very kindly said she would come and take care of Mango until he was better.  So, there they are now, both of them keeping each other company in Mango's red watering can. I do hope Mango gets better soon.  He is blessed to have Marise mouse as his kind, caring friend.  I know she will cook him very healthy food to make him get well very soon indeed.

Sherbet enjoys working in his garden with his friends

I woke up to a lovely sunny morning with the birds singing sweetly in my ears.
I was still half asleep though when I suddenly remembered that I had asked Doodle, Pearl and Mango to come to help me with my garden tasks today.  I had asked them to have breakfast with me this morning too and I knew they could be here any minute, so I jumped up quickly and rushed into my kitchen to start putting out things on my kitchen table.  Just as I was reaching into my cupboard for my jar of Pearl's homemade blackberry jam, there was a knock on the door and in came my dear friends. Yummy! I smelled the delightful aroma of freshly baked bread as they walked in.  Pearl was carrying in her basket a delicious wholemeal loaf that she had made to my very favourite recipe. It had sunflower seeds and sesame seeds in it. Oh how absolutely scrumptious,  I just could not wait to eat it.
Doodle had brought some crunchy red and green apples that he had been given by the farmer at the other end of Wiggleway Lane and Mango brought me a little bunch of daisies to brighten up the kitchen table. How kind they all are.  I put a spotted jug of freshly squeezed orange juice on the table and a pot of tea for Pearl, made with mint from my herb garden.  After eating our absolutely delicious breakfast, we were ready to start work in the garden.  Doodle, Mango and Pearl all jumped into my red wheelbarrow, I gave them their tools and I pushed them all to my vegetable garden where we spent a very happy morning weeding, planting new seeds, raking earth, collecting fallen leaves and gathering a whole basket of ripe vegetables.  I do so love the simple pleasure of working in my garden and it makes it all so much more special to share it with my friends. I am very blessed to have such wonderful helpers, and this evening, to say thank you to them, I will cook them a lovely healthy meal full of my home grown rainbow coloured vegetables.

Sherbet is so grateful for his home grown lettuce

Oh how lovely it was to share a meal with my dear friends Doodle, Mango and Pearl yesterday evening.  I picked my best salad leaves from my vegetable garden to make sure we had a delicious healthy meal. I am so grateful and happy that I have such a wonderful variety of lettuce in my garden, I have red lettuce, curly lettuce, dark green lettuce, light green lettuce, lettuce with long wiggly leaves, lettuce with short round leaves and  lettuce with raggedy looking leaves. They are all so tasty, some have a peppery taste, they are Doodle's favourite but Pearl says she only likes them mixed in with the other leaves.
We were very lucky also to have some delicious big red ripe tomatoes straight from my garden vine and one juicy cucumber.  I was sorry to have to take away some of the shelter from my caterpillars but I know they will understand.  Before my friends arrived, I was so excited that I waited at my front door to wait for them and to welcome them to Clover Cottage. I am very blessed to have such wonderful friends.

Doodle's drawing lesson in Sherbet's garden

Oh what a wonderful day it is today.  I woke up very early, eager to start the day and as I  sat  at my kitchen table eating my scrumptious breakfast, I felt very excited as I knew that at any moment Pearl, Doodle and Mango would knock on my door ready to share a very creative day with me.  Last week  Pearl had thought of a very good idea.  She asked  Doodle if he would  teach us all to draw. Well you see, Doodle Dog is very talented  indeed and he loves to share his rainbow coloured ideas with everyone he meets. At half past eight exactly my dear friends arrived at Clover Cottage and our amazing day was ready to begin.

First of all though, I needed a little help with a few garden tasks, so Mango, Doodle and Pearl  jumped into my wheelbarrow clutching their garden tools, and I pushed them all, bumping them along, to my vegetable garden, where we weeded, dug and planted until there was just no more to do at all.  I then pushed them all back to the front of Clover Cottage where they jumped out of the wheelbarrow and then the fun began !

Doodle had brought along lots of pencils, paint brushes and  crayons and some sketch pads and we all sat down on my green, crunchy grass, which luckily felt lovely and dry.  Doodle asked me to stand up and be his model, while Pearl and Mango watched the lesson carefully.
I felt a little embarrassed at first and my cheeks blushed a little, to an even deeper shade of pink than they were already. Everyone said how handsome I looked so I soon found my courage and stood proudly under the oak tree to have my picture drawn. All the little creatures in my garden gathered around. The hedgehogs had stopped drinking  from their saucer of milk to join the group, the frogs had stopped croaking and hopped over to sit next to Mango, the butterflies fluttered around my head giving me more confidence and the caterpillars left the shelter of their cabbage leaves to watch.  We were all settling down into our nice, comfy, grassy seats, all except me of course, as I was the honoured chosen model!  All was quiet as we waited expectantly for Doodle to start drawing.

You will never guess what happened next. All of a sudden there was a loud creak and a scary, cracking noise from the branches of the oak tree, we all looked up and were shocked to see a  whole nest full of baby blackbirds tumbling down from the tree. I acted very quickly and just caught them in time before they fell to the ground. Oh dear, what a surprise! There I was, standing in front of my audience, holding a very prickly nest of chirping birds. I have never in my life known such a thing.  How wonderful I thought, to have been able to save these lovely little creatures from a very nasty fall indeed.  We then all heard a loud, cheery cheeping sound coming from the sky and we looked up again to see the very relieved mother blackbird  diving around in the air with joy.  She had an expression of pure gratitude on her face, she was smiling so much that her beak was curled up at the edges. I invited her to join us in our drawing class. She said yes, she would be delighted to sit on the grass next to all the other little creatures and watch the lesson. At that point Doodle had a brilliant idea.  He asked the mother blackbird if she would mind if  her baby birds could be in the picture with me. She agreed, filled with pride as her babies had never been drawn before. I stood in my place holding the birds nest very, very carefully while Doodle showed us all how to draw. After a little while he held up a beautiful sketch of me and the nest of baby birds.

We all clapped in delight at the clever picture and even though we all knew we cannot draw as well as Doodle, it inspired us all to go home and draw, with the rainbow coloured crayons Doodle had given us.
Mango especially, was so eager to make a drawing of his plate of cheese that he had left on his window sill, that he rushed home to his red watering can at full speed and leaped in the top, disappeared inside and  did not appear again until he had finished his drawing!

Oh what a simply delightful day we all had together. I am so happy to have taken part in Doodle's drawing lesson and I am truly grateful that I was able to save the little birds from danger. I have promised the mother blackbird, that tomorrow, I will climb up my wooden ladder and put the nest with her precious babies in, back among the oak tree branches where they belong, so that they can grow stronger in complete peace and happiness until they are ready to fly.  I do so hope they stay and make their homes here at Clover Cottage where they will be most welcome to join all the other little creatures in my garden.

Oh,  it is so very very exciting. Today I am going to appear on the sheep blog of my special sheep friends who live far far away. It is called  My Favourite Sheep.  My sheep friends from far far away live at Punkin's Patch.  B. Willard is going to tell all his sheep friends about the delightful day I had today taking part in Doodle's drawing lesson. I do hope they like it.  I felt very flattered to be asked and my cheeks turned even pinker !

Snow and apple pie

This morning I felt like going for a lovely walk along Wiggleway Lane. I asked Mango and Doodle to go with me as the air was fresh and clean and I thought it would do us all good to breathe in some lovely fresh air. Pearl was too busy baking apple pies to come with us but as we are all looking forward to tasting the scrumptious pies, we did not mind that she was not there to enjoy the walk with us. It was a very quiet, cold day, there were no birds singing in the trees and no bees buzzing and no frogs croaking. We walked in silence just enjoying the peace. We were just passing the farm which seemed deserted, as all of the animals were resting in their cosy barns and stables, when it started to snow. We were all so surprised to see how quickly the snow flakes were settling on our heads. Poor, little, shivering Mango.  I picked him up quickly and tucked him into my wool and we all hurried back to Clover Cottage where Doodle made us all mugs of delicious hot chocolate. We soon warmed up and a little while later there was a knock on the door and when I opened it, there stood Pearl holding two lovely apple pies.  How lovely, we were now all together and spent a lovely, cosy morning enjoying each others company and eating warm apple pie.

Mango is a very helpful mouse but a little bit naughty

Early this morning, I heard a tiny knock on my door. It was Mango all eager and ready for work. I let him in to my cosy kitchen and I shared my delicious breakfast with him. I must say I have been eating so much of Pearl's scrumptious blackberry jam, that the jar is now more empty than full. After Mango had so very kindly washed up the breakfast dishes, we started work in the garden. It was a lovely, sunny day so I was not worried that Mango would catch cold. I spent all morning weeding and was so pleased to see the garden looking all neat and tidy again. Mango did a really wonderful job of gathering all of the leaves together. He was a little bit naughty though, as when I looked around, I saw him jumping up and down in his pile of leaves and nearly getting lost in them. Mango is becoming rather famous for getting himself lost in leaves but I did manage to pull him out before he disappeared completely!

Back to a quiet life

Well, here I am almost back to my normal quiet life at Clover Cottage. It was so lovely to see my garden full of my friends, old and new but I can also now enjoy the peace and quiet with all the little creatures in my garden. The sun has been shining quite warmly this morning so the snow is melting, maybe  tomorrow I can do lots of garden tasks. I am looking through my kitchen window and I see the weeds have started to grow again and there are lots of leaves to clear away as it has been quite windy too. I can see them popping through the melting snow right at this minute as I am talking to you. I will ask Mango to help me as he loves leaves even though he does sometimes get lost in them.

Sherbet is well again and loves Doodle Dog's snowflake painting

Here I am, all well again. I am so grateful to Pearl and Mango for looking after me while I was not feeling well. I am so lucky to have such good, kind friends in my life.
Doodle painted a lovely picture of snowflakes yesterday and he gave it to me as a get well present. Mango made me a little card and inside he wrote  PLEASE GET WELL SOON. Mango, Doodle and Pearl are all very thoughtful and caring and I know I am very blessed to have them in my life.

Sherbet is not very well, so Pearl looks after him

Hello everyone, this is Pearl. Sherbet is not very well today so I have told him to stay in bed all day and I will look after him. I will make him a big healthy soup full of vegetables from his garden. Mango is also here with me helping to do little tasks around the home. We have picked some flowers and put them in a vase in Sherbet's bedroom to cheer him up. I hope he is feeling better tomorrow.

A visit to Doodle's art studio

Today Pearl, Mango and I visited Doodle in his art studio. It was so exciting. He has so many interesting things to see there. He has tadpoles in a jar, painted stones, a book about frogs and a book about painting. The thing we loved best of all though was that he showed us how to paint a big pot. He said we should use our imagination and that there were no rules and we could paint anything we liked on it. Doodle painted big insects on his pot, I painted big spots on my pot, Pearl painted flowers on her pot and  Mango painted leaves on his pot. It was so much fun and we were all very proud of our lovely colourful pots . Doodle said we should all keep them in my garden and grow flowers in them.  We all thought that was a great idea. I am so proud to have a wonderful, creative friend like Doodle.
